Finnebrogue receives ‘highly commended’ award for its health & wellbeing strategy

What a great night celebrating with the best of business at The Belfast Telegraph Business Awards.

Finnebrogue received ‘Highly Commended’ in the category for Excellence in Workplace Health & Wellbeing.

Finnebrogue has been developing its Health and Wellbeing Strategy over the last two years, with some highlights including The Food Shack, which provides weekly food hampers to all staff, a diverse learning and development programme to upskill staff, and monthly engagement activities like Pancake Tuesday or Easter Egg Hunts to inject fun in the workplace.

Commenting on the award, Morgan Cooke, Finnebrogue’s HR Manager and Health & Wellbeing lead, said:

“We are a family-owned business based in Downpatrick, employing 1200 people – and we believe people are the lifeblood of our business.

“The Health and Wellbeing Strategy has a clear focus on supporting the emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing of our people – and we are delighted to be recognised for our work so far.

“Clubs and societies have developed with many colleagues participating in golf, paddle boarding, cycling and running.

“A subsidised canteen, car and bike purchase scheme, healthcare insurance, counselling services and financial health checks provide practical support.

“The business has also been developing a suite of ‘flexible working’ incentives to help redress the balance between home/work and workplace diversity and inclusion.”

We have been shortlisted as a finalist in the BEST WELLBEING IN THE WORKPLACE STRATEGY category for the 2023 Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards. Winners will be announced on 8th June.
