Finnebrogue announces new co-branded ‘vegan’ bacon bap with Costa Coffee

UK food producer Finnebrogue Artisan – best known for its revolutionary nitrite-free Naked Bacon and more recently Naked without the Oink bacon rashers – has announced a partnership with Costa Coffee to produce a new co-branded plant-based breakfast bap.

The Vegan Bac’n Bap is the newest food item to be added to the menu at Costa Coffee, the Nation’s Favourite Coffee Shop*, and the first ever plant-based bacon breakfast bap to be sold at the chain, that is suitable for vegans.

Perfectly sandwiched between a soft white bap and topped with vegan spread, the star ingredient that completes this fully plant-based product is the Naked® without the oink® bacon style rashers, produced by Northern Irish food manufacturer, Finnebrogue Artisan.

Finnebrogue invested £25 million last year with the opening of its new plant-based factory in County Down. The facility – measuring more than 200,000 sq ft – was Finnebrogue’s fourth new factory in five years and brought the firm’s overall investment during that period to £80 million.

The new Vegan Bac’n Bap is now available to purchase at Costa Coffee stores nationwide (UK) and will carry joint branding for both Costa Coffee and Naked without the Oink.

Jago Pearson, Finnebrogue’s chief strategy officer commented:

We are thrilled that Costa Coffee has chosen Naked without the Oink rashers for its Vegan Bac’n Bap.

“They are a tasty substitute for real bacon and are high in protein, a source of fibre, vitamin B12, iron and zinc. And what’s more, they are made right here in the UK.

“They also recently obtained a grade A enviro score from Foundation Earth. This means customers can now enjoy our tasty rashers with the knowledge they are produced in a more sustainable way.”

A Costa Coffee spokesperson said:

We are delighted to have launched the new Vegan Bac’n Bap across Costa Coffee stores in partnership with Finnebrogue Artisan. It’s an exciting first for Costa Coffee and a delicious, innovative twist on a famous classic. Try it for yourself and pop down to your local store today to see what all the fuss is about!”
