International Women’s Day: Give to Gain

At Finnebrogue, we believe in the simple but powerful principle behind this year’s International Women’s day: Give to Gain.

When we give mentorship, we gain stronger leaders.
When we give trust, we gain confidence.
When we give opportunity, we gain progress.

Here are just some of the amazing women leaders across our business who are investing their time, knowledge and support to develop the next generation of talent.

Sarah Hill, Assistant Technical Manager

At our Finnebrogue site, Sarah Hill, is a powerful example of what happens when support is invested early.

Finnebrogue was Sarah’s first role after graduating, where mentorship from Head of Technical, Laura Robinson, helped shape her early career and development. Today, she leads a diverse team united by shared goals and a commitment to quality. The encouragement she received upon entering the business has come full circle; influencing how she now supports and empowers her team of quality auditors.

Her journey shows that when we invest in potential, we create leaders.

Karla Bradley, Head of Product Development

When Karla Bradley joined Finnebrogue almost five years ago, she brought with her a strong passion for innovation and development. She leads a predominantly female team of technologists and NPD managers who are shaping the future of our products.

Her team reflects a mix of experience and fresh perspective — from newly qualified graduates taking their first steps in the industry, to new managers growing into leadership roles, and experienced specialists bringing deep technical expertise. Karla has created an environment where each person is encouraged to contribute, learn and take ownership.

Barbara Geddis, Mixing Room Manager

After a career in secretarial work and raising her family, Barbara Geddis, is proof that opportunity has no fixed starting point at Finnebrogue.

The support she received as she built her career is something she now actively passes on to her team. Barbara leads with strength, clarity and mutual respect, creating an environment where people feel valued and capable. By giving encouragement and direction, she helps others build confidence and capability in equal measure.

Her story reminds us that it’s never too late to grow, and never too early to lift someone else.

Sarah Savage, Commercial Manager

Sarah Savage began her journey as a placement student at Finnebrogue 15 years ago, progressing from technologist to product development controller. Throughout her career, she benefited from a range of mentors across the business, each helping her expand her skills, confidence and ambition.

During her time with the company, Sarah has been on maternity leave twice — returning each time to continue her development and progression. Her experience reflects the importance of working in an environment where careers can evolve alongside life’s milestones. Today, as a commercial manager under Sofina Foods, she is that role model for others.

Sarah’s drive and determination set the standard for colleagues who want to advance their own careers. She demonstrates that meaningful progress comes from building strong relationships, sharing knowledge and having the ability to adapt and learn over time.

Melissa Mackey, Head of HR

As Head of HR, Melissa Mackey is at the forefront of shaping our people agenda. She invests significant time, creating clear pathways for development, ensuring that growth and opportunity are part of everyday working life. Her focus is simple and consistent — build capability, support progression and help people reach their potential.

We recognise that many of our women colleagues balance successful careers with full lives outside of work — as mums, partners, grandparents, carers, coaches and leaders in their own communities. The experience, resilience and perspective gained beyond the workplace strengthen the contribution they make within it.
