This Apprenticeship Week, meet James, an apprentice engineer at Finnebrogue.
James joined Finnebrogue in 2020 as a Trainee Machine Operator, taking his first step into a career that would continue to grow and evolve. Eager to learn, he progressed into the NPD team, supporting the production side of new product development, before moving into a Process Technician role. Working closely with both Production and Engineering teams, James played a key role in keeping operations running smoothly – from sourcing machine parts and supporting maintenance to troubleshooting line breakdowns and finding practical solutions.
Like many people, James admits he wasn’t sure what career path he wanted to follow when he left school. Five years on, he’s found his direction. In September, he began his journey as an Engineer Apprentice, gaining hands-on experience and learning the full workings of machinery – from bearings and belts to how systems operate and how to fix them. Now aged 37 and back in education, James is excited about the future and the opportunities ahead.
