I am a very new member of the Finnebrogue Artisan team commencing my employment with the business in August 2015. I remember when I came for the interview and I met with Denis and Brian, I was blown away with their enthusiasm and drive. This together with my love for good food attracted me to the business.

I remember my first few days at Finnebrogue Artisan and the number of times that product was brought into the Boardroom for tasting. I was in absolute heaven!

I guess my love for food started at a very early age. My father had a number of shops selling fruit, vegetables, fish etc. Back in the 70’s the variety of foods available was much less that it is now but I was very lucky and got to try a very wide variety at an early age. When I left school I worked for my father for a short period of time and did all the buying of the fruit and vegetables for him. I soon realised that 4am for 6days a week was not good for an 18 year olds social life so went to university to study accountancy!

I started office work as a purchase ledger clerk and found it very mundane. I forced myself to stick at the job as I got day release to go to Leeds University to study CIMA. Since I qualified in 1987, I have held Finance Director type roles in many industries interesting and often challenging I never came across a team of people that is so passionate about the end product that the team here at Finnebrogue Artisan.

I am married to Michelle and have 2 children Harry and Anna. I met Michelle at work in 1990, she was a trainee accountant but resigned after 3 months as she hated me. We bumped into each other in a pub in 1997 (she asked me out of course) and she finally got her own back in 1998 when we married in a Scottish castle.

I would like to think that I am very much a people person and I spend a great deal of time with my employees trying to help, motivate and coach them. My passion has always been to make a difference within a business. Whether it has been with implementing new systems, reducing cost or just dealing with staff. I work best when I feel I am making a positive contribution. This is something that Finnebrogue Artisan allows in abundance.

I have several interests, however, my 2 favourite have to be fishing (only fish you can eat of course) and eating in or out. I love cooking when I have time, but I do make a mess so my wife tends to steer me towards restaurants rather than the kitchen.
