Finnebrogue Teaches St Mary’s Pupils Home Economics
December 2016

img_0093On Wednesday 30th November we had a visit from 15 students from St Mary’s High School in Downpatrick. The pupils are all interested in food and attend cookery club after school each week. They were intrigued about the locally based food company and given their teacher, Lisa Davey, was a former Quality Technologist for Finnebrogue as a graduate we happily agreed to a tour of the new facility.

img_0073On the day Aaron, who is now well versed in GCSE Business Studies and Home Economics, guided the students through the company history and discussed the factory stages from intake to despatch and each of the different job roles in the factory. They were all amazed with the factory.

Carol then stepped in as teacher to discuss the roles of the Technical and Quality teams, while Sonia cooked up various tasty samples for a ‘mock’ taste panel giving each of pupil an opportunity to try some delicious products. We then headed to the Roof Garden Café to give them a tour of the garden and discuss the career paths available in NPD and Marketing and view a range of our current products and collect some Good Little Company goodies home. Our very own Sarah Savage is a St Mary’s girl so hopefully some of these girls follow in her footsteps and perhaps work here in the future!
